Sorry
For my melancholy ways
the shimmer I let fade
These eyes I see through to a world so grey.
No remainder of what once was.
No shine of an old light
I still stand slightly upright.
Given all that has torn me down.
I still stand upright.
Not my best effort
Not my best faith
Not fully, who I am.
A Lackluster attempt to remain
slightly human.
Pretending to function properly.

This poem sits in the space between exhaustion and endurance—nothing heroic, just something honest.
